As many of you know, my sister Jennifer was diagnosed with MS a year ago. Until her diagnosis, I had no idea just how many people are dealing with MS every day. In fact, I considered the disease to be something that happened to older people! Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system attacks the nervous system. This attack creates lesions on the nerve coverings in the brain and spinal cord leading to difficulty walking and other problems. While treatments are available for this disease, there is still no cure.
It's hard to believe such a young, vivacious girl has to face this disease every day. I am amazed by her strength and positive attitude - particularly since she has to give herself a shot every night before bed! She will tell you that she feels fine, except for some numbness in her feet, which you would never suspect by the fabulous heels she wears to work every day!
Our family will be walking in the Irvine MS Walk on Saturday, April 12th in support of Jennifer. I encourage you to follow the link below to find out more about what you can do to help in the fight against MS. While donations to find a cure are appreciated, you can also just sign up to walk in the event. (Please find a link below.)

If nothing else, I hope this post serves as a reminder that none of us are invincible. So enjoy every moment of your life - no matter what gets thrown at you!
